Today's Poem is Taken From Acts Chapter 5
by Chaplain Anthony Murphy Site AdminToday's poem is taken from Acts chapter 5.
This is a story about church folks and how they lied.
It's a story about Ananias and Sapphira, a husband and wife,
church members that were not living a true life.
The congregation had agreed to sell their houses and land.
And, let them bring in money voluntarily, it was not a demand.
However, Ananias and his wife agreed to lie and not give
the amount they pledged to help someone that needed it to live.
These were folks that attended church just like me and you.
They were members in good standing, however their life was not true.
They knew how to play the part to look good in church on Sunday.
However, when tempted by greed, they lied and went astray.
God saw what they did and He wasn't pleased — He hates a lie.
They couldn't get away with this, no matter how hard they would try.
God told the preacher what they did, and then struck them dead.
If only they had done what they promised, but both died instead.
