Now that I am retired and living on a minimum wage
by Chaplain Anthony Murphy Site AdminNow that I am retired and living on a minimum wage
Social Security benefits seems to be for many the rage
Mine barely covers my basic needs without any thrills
Yet, I'm not complaining I can still pay my bills.
But for all the years I worked and saved for the day
When I thought all my financial worries would go away
I sold our home and that was a big mistake
It was just another asset for the government to take.
I am living in a low income senior housing complex now
And they base the rent on on my income that's how.
We are fortunate to have such a nice place to live.
It just seems to me the government wants us to give and give.
I really want to help others and contribute to the poor
But if I earn any income I was told I would pay more
More rent and lose some of the benefits I now enjoy today
So, as a Christian, I will live a simple life and do as they say
